# Choo Young-woo and Kim So-hyun's Robot Lab Romance Premieres October 5 Canonical: https://ktrenz.com/k-culture/k-drama-ktrenz/choo-young-woo-and-kim-so-hyun-s-robot-lab-romance-premieres-october-5-328 ## Article The creative team behind this one is the real headline. Director Ahn Pan-seok — the person responsible for *Melo Is My Nature*, *Something in the Rain*, *Spring Night*, and *Misty* — is back with a campus romance, and writer Min Hyo-jung (*Full House*, *Rooftop Cat*) is on script duty. That combination alone has drama fans paying attention before a single episode has aired. The drama is called *Yeonae Baksa* (Love Doctor), and it premieres Monday, October 5 at 10PM on ENA, streaming simultaneously on Disney+ and KT Genie TV. The setting is a robotics research lab at a fictional university, and the two leads couldn't be more different on paper. Choo Young-woo plays Park Min-jae, a doctoral student who lost his right leg to illness and had to abandon his dream of becoming a competitive swimmer — he rebuilt his life around robotics, works slowly but steadily, and is famously bad at expressing emotion. Kim So-hyun plays Lim Yu-jin, a fashion design grad who got branded a troublemaker within her department and found her path to fashion school completely blocked — so she pivots, ends up in the robotics lab, and proceeds to be the unstoppable force to Min-jae's immovable object. The supporting cast fills out the lab with distinct personalities: Lee Gyu-seong as the resident genius Eom Tae-ho, Lee Seok-hyeong as the easygoing Bae Chan-su, and Kim Min as the youngest member Choi Han-gyeol. Im Jin-hyo plays Kim Se-jin, a high achiever who also happens to be Min-jae's rival — and Yu-jin's classmate, which sets up a layered dynamic. On the faculty side, Lee Chang-hoon plays the boisterous robotics professor, Jang In-seop plays a math prodigy who became a professor young, and Ryu Kyung-in plays the fashion department professor — whose world and Min-jae's world are on a collision course through Yu-jin. Yu-jin's home life gets its own weight in the story. Park Hyuk-kwon, Seo Jeong-yeon, and Kim Min-seok play her family — a hardworking car garage owner dad, a sharp and devoted mom, and a one-year-older brother who helps out at the garage and is described as thoroughly immature. The production noted that the cast met separately before table reads to develop the family dynamic, and the stills released September 22 already read like a lived-in unit. Choo Young-woo described the set as one where "consideration and respect were always present" and said the energy that built naturally between the lab members came through in scenes without anyone forcing it. Kim So-hyun echoed that — lots of laughter on set, lots of shared ideas, clear individual roles that made the ensemble chemistry land. The production's own framing is that this is a romance about the exact moment feelings start, told through two people whose paths shouldn't logically cross. With Ahn Pan-seok directing emotional beats and Min Hyo-jung writing the dialogue, the pacing of how Min-jae and Yu-jin's story unfolds is the thing to watch from episode one.
