IRION debuts with 'MEMORIA' MV: drama-linked girl group drops Y2K retro hero concept

IRION dropped their debut title track MEMORIA on July 19, releasing both the audio and music video simultaneously across online music platforms and the group's official YouTube channel.

The group emerged directly from the MBC Plus drama My Idol, My Debut — not a standard OST act, but a linked IP project where the drama's fictional idol group and the members' real-world activities run in parallel. The lineup: Hwang Ji-a (character Choi Ae-ni), who played the young version of Kim Ji-won in Queen of Tears; Nana from WOOAH (character Aji); Kaede from tripleS (character Karin); and aisa, a new artist with a 10-million-view video to her name.

MEMORIA means memory in Latin. The track carries a message about becoming each other's light after dark times, pairing electronic-centered production with a melody that builds toward brightness. Concept-wise, it leans into metal sound and a new-retro magical girl aesthetic—Y2K hero energy, essentially.

Lee Sa-gang and the Johnny Bros team directed the MV. Visually, it pulls from Y2K style and 1980s special-effects cinematography, placing the members in a vintage hideout setting where they perform group choreography in sporty retro outfits. The core image: all four members, each wearing neon-colored wristwatches, joining hands as a framing of IRION's worldview.

Sample lyrics: "지금 너와 나의 손끝에 영원히 간직할 Memoria" and "서로의 빛이 돼 망설이지 말고 Come with me."

A pre-release variety show, IRION: Real Debut, aired ahead of the single. The drama My Idol, My Debut (directed by Han Geum-bi, written by Choi Yeon-su, produced by Minari Entertainment) airs every Thursday at 11:30 PM on MBC Drama Net and Japanese OTT platform Lemino, with subsequent availability on MBC M, Wavve, TVING, and WATCHA.
