JTBC's 'Apartment' premiered July 11 with Ji Sung as a former gang boss infiltrating a residential complex to find 10 billion won hidden inside.
Apartment hit JTBC on July 11 at 10:40 PM, launching its Saturday-Sunday run with Ji Sung (지성) front and center.
Ji Sung plays Park Hae-gang, ex-boss of the Oasis faction. He enters an apartment residents' council chairman election chasing 10 billion won stashed somewhere in the building. The election itself becomes cover for his real hunt. He works with residents to expose corruption while keeping his eyes on the money. Ha Yoon-kyung (하윤경) plays Kang Ha-ri. The production team calls them an "intermittent family"—two people thrown together by circumstance.
Episode one opens on a wedding. Ji Sung in a black tuxedo, Ha Yoon-kyung in white, as Park Hae-gang makes his entrance into the apartment. The production team praised Ji Sung's "soft transformation erasing the former boss's charisma" and Ha Yoon-kyung's "elegant bride smile" as the drama's tonal anchor.
The ensemble rounds out with Park Byung-eun (박병은), Moon So-ri (문소리), Kim Won-hae (김원해) as Lizard (도마뱀), a VIP at a gambling establishment, and Kim Gyu-won (김규원) as Big Brother (큰둥이).
Writer Kim Yun-young (김윤영) previously wrote Revenge Returns (복수가 돌아왔다). Director Jo Yong-won (조용원) won the directing award at the Seoul Drama Awards for Finding the Child (아이를 찾습니다).
Apartment airs Saturdays at 10:40 PM and Sundays at 10:30 PM on JTBC.
