BTS 'SWIM' earns 10th French Gold cert, 5 months after release

BTS's title track SWIM earned Gold certification from France's SNEP on August 20, crossing the 15-million streaming-equivalent threshold that combines streams, downloads, and physical sales.

It's the group's 10th Gold-certified single in France. Dynamite, Butter, Boy With Luv (Feat. Halsey), and FAKE LOVE are on that list. Ten total.

SWIM got there in approximately five months. That's the second-fastest pace in BTS's own catalog. Dynamite, released in August 2020, still holds the record at roughly three months—which was also the fastest any K-pop track had reached the mark at the time.

The parent album ARIRANG has been stacking certifications since release. Gold came six days in, then Platinum in April after surpassing 100,000 copies sold in about a month. MAP OF THE SOUL : 7 and Proof each took approximately one year and two months to reach Platinum in France.

On the August 29 Billboard chart (announced August 25), ARIRANG sits at No. 24 on the Billboard 200. Five months earlier, it debuted at No. 1 on the April 4 chart and held the top spot for three consecutive weeks. SWIM is at No. 5 on Billboard Global (excl. US), a position it has held for 22 straight weeks, and No. 14 on the Billboard Global 200.

(The album and the world tour share a name, which is either very on-brand or a logistical headache for journalists.) BTS launched the ARIRANG world tour in Goyang in April, recently wrapped Toronto, and plays Chicago on August 27–28 before heading to Los Angeles in September. Central and South America, Asia, and Australia follow.
