Goyang City mobilizes full admin support for BIGBANG 20th anniversary tour and Im Young-woong concerts

Goyang City will hold a large-scale performance administrative support briefing on August 6, the first such meeting since the launch of the city's ninth popularly elected administration.

Two concerts are on the calendar. BIGBANG's 20th debut anniversary world tour stops in Goyang this month; Im Young-woong follows in September. Both shows are expected to draw large numbers of domestic and international attendees.

The August 6 session brings together Goyang City departments, police, fire services, Korea Railroad Corporation, and Goyang City Management Corporation. On the agenda: audience flow and crowd management, public transportation operations, crackdowns on illegal street vendors, and environmental improvements around the venues. (The illegal vendor crackdowns tend to be the detail that actually matters on concert day.)

On the safety and traffic side, the city plans to concentrate resources on managing crowds inside and outside the venues and easing congestion. Tourism is also in play. Goyang City intends to expand performance-linked tourism content and city promotion so that visitors move beyond the concert halls into local attractions and commercial districts. The briefing will also cover linked programs aimed at boosting the economic ripple effect of both shows.

Goyang City has been hosting large-scale concerts continuously since the second half of 2024. A city official said the goal is to build "a virtuous cycle structure that leads beyond the success of the performance to tourism, consumption, and increased city recognition" as Goyang positions itself as a global K-culture hub.
