HwaSooMok reinterprets BTS 'Boy With Luv' with gayageum, haegeum, cello, and piano

HwaSooMok dropped an instrumental arrangement of BTS's Boy With Luv on July 24. Gayageum, haegeum, cello, and piano carry the whole thing.

The original Boy With Luv (작은 것들을 위한 시) was the title track of BTS's 2019 mini-album MAP OF THE SOUL : PERSONA, featuring Halsey. HwaSooMok's version strips the vocals entirely and rebuilds the song through a four-instrument ensemble that sits at the intersection of Korean traditional music and Western classical.

Leader Kim Tae-soo, who handles piano and arrangement, said the song carries particular weight for the group: "'Boy With Luv' is the starting point of HwaSooMok's birth, so it has even more special meaning to us." The goal was to let each instrument's individual character come through while also generating the energy that only the four of them together can produce.

The single is available on major domestic streaming platforms, YouTube Music, and Apple Music.

HwaSooMok has also performed at the Korea-Turkmenistan 30th anniversary diplomatic relations commemorative concert, where they collaborated with the local national orchestra. (The ensemble moves between a BTS reinterpretation and a state diplomatic stage.)
