iii returns with hip-hop single 'WaiT' and secret-agent concept
iii dropped digital single 'WaiT' on Aug. 28—their first release since debut single 'RE:AL iii' last year.
iii (아이아이아이) — Subin, Taeri, Namking, Hana, and Eungi — dropped digital single WaiT on August 28.
The track is a hip-hop dance song. Addictive bass riff, hard-hitting drums, polished synth production. One-0-Five label handled composition.
Teaser images and member concept photos went up August 19. The concept, titled "CLASSIFIED FILE : AGENT," dressed all five members in black leather jackets with buckles and metal accessories. A choreography preview reel showing the highlight section of WaiT followed on August 27. The MV teaser escalated: dark urban backdrop, demon-like agents handling captives, members aiming sniper rifles, a motorcycle infiltration sequence. The visuals are doing a lot of work here.
iii kicks off music show promotions on SBS Inkigayo airing August 30.
The group debuted last year under Big Ocean Entertainment with single RE:AL iii. Its title track Forbidden Midnight (Real ver.) reinterpreted the melody of "In the Hall of the Mountain King" from the Peer Gynt suite in a K-pop arrangement—an unusual move for a debut that set up the group's reputation for a distinctive worldview.
