KATSEYE's 'Hootie Frutti' hits Spotify USA #6 on release day; MV crosses 10M YouTube views in 36 hours

KATSEYE dropped their third EP WILD on August 14. Title track Hootie Frutti landed at #6 on Spotify Daily Top Songs USA and #12 on the Global chart the same day. The music video crossed 10 million YouTube views within 36 hours of going live.

The group performed Hootie Frutti live for the first time that day at Rockefeller Center's TODAY Plaza on NBC's TODAY show. Five-track EP. First public stage. All on day one.

Pre-release single Animal (out July 24) kept climbing. It jumped 8 positions on Spotify Daily Top Songs Global to reach #5 on August 14, held at #15 on Spotify Weekly Top Songs Global for the August 7–13 chart period (three consecutive weeks in the top tier), and matched its own peak of #16 on the UK Official Singles Top 100 for the August 14–20 chart week.

On Spotify Daily Top Songs Global for August 14, KATSEYE placed 7 songs simultaneously—more than any other artist that day. Hootie Frutti at #12, Animal at #5, ICONIC BY MISTAKE (a collaboration with LE SSERAFIM and ILLIT) at #86, PINKY UP at #84, Bel Air at #116, That Way at #140, and Gabriela at #152. (One source places Gabriela at #159 globally; the discrepancy may reflect different chart snapshots.) Gabriela also hit 60 consecutive weeks on the chart. On Spotify Daily Top Songs USA: Hootie Frutti #6, Animal #10, Bel Air #51, That Way #69, PINKY UP #72.

Hootie Frutti is built around Brazilian Phonk-style percussion and a heavy drum beat. The group describes the lyrics as witty. WILD's album concept centers on accepting every side of oneself and moving toward instinct and freedom.

HYBE Chairman Bang Si-hyuk and Ed Sheeran are among the contributors credited to the EP's production. KATSEYE, formed through a HYBE and Geffen Records collaboration in 2024, previously took home three awards including Rookie of the Year at the 2026 American Music Awards and earned nominations in two categories at the 68th Grammy Awards.

Daniela on WILD: "It's more raw, more authentic. You will be able to see KATSEYE at a higher level." Megan added: "We're just girls"—crediting the group's friendship and humility as what keeps them grounded.
