Lightssum set Japanese debut mini album for Sept. 23, open up on pressure in 'Re:Idol' doc

Lightssum (상아, 초원, 나영, 히나, 주현, 유정) will release their Japanese debut mini album Re:Idol on September 23.

Episode 3 of the Abema original documentary, also titled Re:Idol, dropped August 23. The five-track album includes four new songs — Doshite, Fallin' World, Stop and Go, and Yoru wo Aruku Kimi e — plus Pose! Kawaii Version, a newly arranged take on an existing track. Doshite was partially previewed in the documentary.

The six-member group visited Cho Natsuzome 2026, a large outdoor idol festival in Japan, where they watched Japanese group Rookie♡Rookies perform. The experience shifted something. "When we watched Japanese idols performing with passion without rest, we thought whether we could perform with that much energy," the members said. That visit pushed them past vague optimism: "We started to think about how to make our team recognized by many people."

Yujeong got candid about her own headspace. "I regretted that I should have just enjoyed it from the beginning," she said. "I had too many thoughts." She also noted a silver lining: new experiences feel like a return to her original self, which she called joyful. (The Cho Natsuzome visit clearly did its job.)

The Re:Idol documentary airs every Sunday at 10 PM on Japanese Abema.
