LIGHTSUM announce Japanese single 'どうして' dropping September 23, first group track in ~2 years

LIGHTSUM are coming back in Japan. The Cube Entertainment six-piece (Sang-a, Chowon, Nayoung, Hina, Juhyeon, Yujeong) will release どうして (Doshite) on September 23, a bright and cheerful track built for the Japanese market.

Two years have passed since POSE!, their last group song. "We will be able to show our charm more," the members said of the new release.

The announcement followed Re:Idol, an ABEMA original documentary tracking LIGHTSUM's Japan debut. Episode 2 aired August 16; new episodes drop every Sunday at 10 PM on ABEMA Japan. The preview racked up 2 million views before the series even started.

In episode 2, the group embraced a kawaii (カワイイ) concept as part of their Japanese market push. They learned Japanese-style makeup and picked up local trending dances. Hina, the Japanese-born member, led the choreography drill. All six nailed it in 10 minutes—enough to impress the show's panel. (Ten minutes. Six members. That's the clip people are going to be rewatching.)

どうして drops September 23.
