Ma Dong-seok joins Extraction 3 alongside Pierce Brosnan and Chris Hemsworth
Netflix confirmed the Extraction 3 cast on August 17, with Ma Dong-seok among five new additions joining returning stars Chris Hemsworth, Idris Elba, and Golshifteh Farahani.
Ma Dong-seok is joining Extraction 3. Netflix announced the film's main cast on August 17 (local time) and confirmed that full-scale filming has begun.
He's one of five newcomers to the franchise. Pierce Brosnan, Joe Taslim, Chi Lewis-Parry, and Sienna Agudong round out the additions. Chris Hemsworth returns as Tyler Rake on a new mission, with Idris Elba and Golshifteh Farahani back as well. Sam Hargrave directs again; David Weil, who wrote Citadel, penned the screenplay. Location shoots will anchor a production spanning several months.
Ma's already embedded in the Extraction universe through TYGO, a Netflix spin-off where he plays Tygo, a mercenary raised as a war orphan. His character mounts a life-or-death rescue after someone he considers family gets kidnapped by a criminal organization. Lee Jin-wook and BLACKPINK's Lisa appear in the project, which is preparing for its Netflix release.
Back home, he's mid-shoot on Crime City 5 (크랭크인 May 24). He reprises Ma Seok-do, now promoted to team leader of the Serious Crime Investigation Unit, facing off against a new villain, Lee Gang-tae, played by Kim Jae-young. Three active projects at once.
