SF9 drop first regular album in 6 years as 2016 K-pop class marks 10 years active

SF9 dropped their regular album TENACITY on August 26. It's their first in approximately six years. A solo concert in October is already locked in as the group approaches their 10th debut anniversary on October 5.

NCT 127 came back the same week with their 7th regular album BLINGY (August 24) and will kick off a new tour at Seoul's KSPO Dome next month. SF9, NCT 127, and BLACKPINK all debuted in 2016. This stretch of activity reads like a third-generation reunion moment on the calendar.

BLACKPINK held their own 10th-anniversary fan meeting on August 8. The four members maintain a separate group activity contract with YG Entertainment alongside their solo work. Jennie and Jisoo each have new solo albums in the pipeline. Lisa and Rosé continue individual schedules.

Cultural critic Park Song-ah framed the pattern plainly: "gaps in activity no longer mean a loss of team competitiveness" as revenue paths through world tours, fandom platforms, and brand collaborations have multiplied. She added that team continuity is now judged less by activity frequency and more by "whether the relationship and system that allows members to reunite remain."

An entertainment industry official made the same point. A structure separating individual and group activity "is naturally being formed." Military service or solo detours no longer signal a group's end. Ten years in, the question for all three acts is less whether they'll survive and more what they'll do with the runway.
