Taeyang's 'QUINTESSENCE' hits No. 1 in multiple countries on iTunes as he performs at Coachella
Taeyang's first album in 9 years, *QUINTESSENCE*, hit No. 1 on iTunes charts worldwide. The BIGBANG member is marking the group's 20th anniversary while juggling Coachella dates.
QUINTESSENCE landed at No. 1 across multiple countries on the iTunes Worldwide album chart. Nine years had passed since WHITE NIGHT in 2017.
The 10-track record leads with "LIVE FAST DIE SLOW." This is his fourth regular solo release. On August 25, Taeyang posted a stadium photo—full crowd, staff and dancers on stage—with the caption: "너를 사랑해" (I love you).
His catalog spans EP Hot, studio albums Solar, RISE, and WHITE NIGHT, and EP Down to Earth. "눈, 코, 입" (Eyes, Nose, Lips) from RISE topped domestic charts and won him the Melon Music Award Best Song and the Mnet Asian Music Award Song of the Year. "나만 바라봐" also racked up award-show wins. Both Hot and Solar took Best R&B/Soul at the Korean Popular Music Awards.
He appeared on SBS Fantastic Duo and Fantastic Duo Season 2 performing with contestants. In 2024 he served as main producer on Mnet's I-LAND2 : N/a.
Taeyang is currently touring Coachella and promoting the album as part of BIGBANG's 20th-anniversary year. The 37-year-old main vocalist and main dancer has been building toward this era for a while.
