Ashida Mana leads Japanese remake of "Extraordinary Attorney Woo," premiering October 19

The teaser is out, and it has a premiere date

Kansai TV released the first official teaser for its Japanese remake of Extraordinary Attorney Woo on September 19, posting it across the network's official website and social channels. The show's Japanese title is Minamida Minami Bengoshi wa Tensaikei — roughly, "Attorney Minamida Minami Is a Genius Type."

Ashida Mana plays Minamida Minami. The drama premieres October 19 at 10 PM on Kansai TV and Fuji TV affiliates, and will also be available on Netflix.

What the remake is working with

The Korean original followed Woo Young-woo (played by Park Eun-bin), a rookie lawyer with autism spectrum disorder who works through a series of cases. It ranked in the upper tier of Netflix's global charts during its run and drew international attention.

The Japanese version preserves the original's core setup and warm tone while adapting the story to Japan's judicial system and cultural context. (Korean and Japanese courtroom procedure are quite different, so this isn't a straight scene-for-scene lift.)

Kansai TV has not announced additional cast beyond Ashida Mana.
