Actor Baek Sung-hyun, a 32-year veteran, stars in Saerang-ui Yeolmae's debut film and is currently shooting the KBS historical drama Munmu as Goguryeo general Go Yeon-mu.
Baek Sung-hyun (백성현) is the face of Gijeoк Sorineun Meomchuji Aneunda ("The Sound of Miracles Does Not Stop"), a web film released on YouTube in early September by Saerang-ui Yeolmae (사랑의열매, Love Fruit). It's the charity's first-ever film production.
The film centers on Park Yun-gyoo (박윤규). He was working as a railroad assistant engineer when an accident cost him one leg. He studied and qualified as a dentist anyway. Now he conducts overseas volunteer work at least four times a year and provides dental services to prisons and medically underserved populations at least twice a week.
Park described his mindset after the accident:
"I experienced despair and became distant from people, but I think it gave me an opportunity to do something great, so I live my life after the accident as a bonus life."
Baek started as a child actor and has worked for 32 years. He previously appeared as a special guest in the historical drama Goryeo-Khitan War. Now he's filming the KBS large-scale historical drama Munmu (문무), playing Goguryeo general Go Yeon-mu (고연무). The production is notable as the first historical drama to formally incorporate AI into its production.
Off screen, Baek has been modeling products made by people with severe disabilities to help raise awareness of their goods. He donated all of his modeling fees from the campaign.
