BLACKPINK's four members are all dropping solo music — here's where each one stands
Rosé, Lisa, Jennie, and Jisoo each dropped solo tracks in August–September 2026, extending individual careers that took off after BLACKPINK renewed their group contract in 2023.
Four releases, four directions
Within weeks of each other, all four BLACKPINK members released new solo music. Rosé's New Trick arrived September 18 as part of Apple's Shot on iPhone campaign—a garage punk track with rough distortion and upbeat vocals, a sharp turn from the melancholic tone of her first solo album Rosie. "Unlike when I was writing sad songs during my first regular album 'Rosie', this time I made a song that is not sad at all," she told US Vogue.
Lisa went first among the September drops. SaWaDiKa landed September 4, a single whose title borrows from Thai greetings and whose music video unfolds in Bangkok. Jisoo released CLICK the same day. Jennie had beaten them both: her EP Fallen Angel came August 28, following last year's debut solo full-length Ruby.
After the group contract renewal
The four members renewed their group activity contract with YG Entertainment at the end of 2023. Solo projects became the priority. That focus has held even as BLACKPINK launched a world tour last year and released mini-album three, DEADLINE, in February 2026.
Lisa told Canadian Rolling Stone about hearing her bandmates' new work: "I thought 'that's so Rosé', 'that's so Jennie', 'that's so Jisoo'. We all found more of ourselves."
What critics are saying
Music critic Kim Do-heon saw something worth noting in the model itself. "BLACKPINK's solo activities are impressive in that members are operating with their own companies and making flexible content production and decision-making." He flagged a wider implication: converting the group's influence into individual brands could reshape how junior girl groups approach their own careers.
Music critic Jung Min-jae took a more measured view. Each member's identity has sharpened through repeated solo work, he said, but "it's difficult to say they have completed impressive works that differentiate them from existing pop singers. We need to watch more albums coming out next year."
(Four solo eras running at once is a logistical feat. Whether any of them has truly broken through is another question.)
