창모 returns to Sejong Grand Theater in November with orchestra premiere of new album MONOLITH

Changmo is back at Sejong Cultural Center's Grand Theater for three nights—November 13, 14, and 15. Six months ago, he sold out two shows in the same space.

MONOLITH meets live orchestra

MONOLITH is his first regular album in five years. The November run marks its live debut, with key tracks getting orchestral arrangements for the first time. Seoul City Choir and Seoul City Boys and Girls Choir appear on album tracks and will perform alongside him. Seong Si-young (성시영), principal taepyeongso player of the Seoul City National Orchestra, is a collaborator on the project. This isn't a standard rap concert. It's a full crossover production.

Show times are 7:30 PM on November 13 and 14, and 5:00 PM on November 15. Tickets go on sale exclusively through Sejong Cultural Ticket on September 8 at 3:00 PM. Anyone buying needs to complete membership registration on the Sejong Cultural Center website before that window opens.

What Sejong is saying about the run

Ahn Ho-sang, president of Sejong Cultural Center, pointed to the May sellouts as proof the concept works. "The May performance was a meaningful attempt showing how contemporary popular music can expand into new performance art content in a grand theater space," he said.

"The November concert is not repeating one success, but a process where performance content continuously develops together with the artist's new music."

For Changmo, the pairing with Seoul's civic choral and traditional music institutions is the draw. Rap vocals over taepyeongso and massed choirs in a 3,000-seat hall doesn't happen often.
