IVY sticker-shocked by $26 NYC e-bike ride after historic Broadway run
The first Korean to play Roxie Hart on Broadway posted her $26.41 e-bike receipt online, calling the price "hateful" while admitting the city had its charms.
$26 for 48 minutes
IVY shared a post on SNS on September 22 with the caption "뉴욕 폭주족" (New York road racer), showing herself cycling through New York streets after her Broadway run wrapped. The receipt told everything: 48 minutes on an electric bicycle, $26.41 USD — roughly 35,000 Korean won.
"Is it really 35,000 won for 50 minutes of biking?" she wrote, with a crying emoji. Then came the pivot: "There is romance. The price is hateful."

The Broadway run that got her there
IVY had just closed a three-week engagement as Roxie Hart in Chicago, performing from August 17 to September 6. She's the first Korean performer to land that role on Broadway. The path there took a year — three separate auditions and intensive English training layered on top of her existing acting work.
This wasn't her first time with the part. Back home, IVY performed the same role 600 times in Korea's Chicago production, building the kind of muscle memory that apparently convinced Broadway casting to say yes.
Back to Korea in December
With New York behind her and the bike bill settled, IVY heads back to the Korean stage. She'll appear in the domestic production of Chicago opening in December.
