Jeon Somi shares birthday post amid I.O.I 10th anniversary reunion activities

Birthday post, Porsche, and a mystery "T"

Jeon Somi posted several photos to her SNS on September 13, captioning them with a heart hand emoji. One shot is a car-window selfie; another shows a classic all-black Porsche parked against a red brick wall. Alongside the photos she wrote: "Happy Birthday to the best T" — no further identification of who "T" is.

The post arrives while Somi, 25, is deep into I.O.I reunion mode. The group marked their 10th debut anniversary by releasing their third mini-album I.O.I: LOOP, with title track 갑자기 charting at the top of major music charts immediately after release. A 2026 concert is in the works for ten of the eleven members (Kang Mina is not participating). An unconfirmed album listed under May 2026 has appeared on I.O.I's discography records.

Seven years of solo output, compressed

Somi's solo run started in 2019 with digital single BIRTHDAY, on which she participated in songwriting, composition, and styling. What You Waiting For (2020) gave her a first-place finish on M Countdown — her first music-broadcast trophy as a solo act. DUMB DUMB sparked a challenge trend that pushed the video into the top tier of YouTube's real-time trending chart in the United States.

Regular album XOXO followed in 2021, with Somi credited on songwriting, composition, and overall concept. EP 1 GAME PLAN (2023) and its title track Fast Forward — on which she is listed as a main songwriter and composer across multiple tracks — marked a high point in her solo career. EP 2 Chaotic & Confused arrived in 2025, bundling pre-release single EXTRA with singles Ice Cream and Ex-Mas.

What's next beyond the reunion

This summer she performed new track Ba Da Bing, a collaboration with DJ Diplo, at a major festival. On the film side, she has wrapped shooting in Thailand for Hollywood feature Perfect Girl, a psychological thriller set inside the trainee selection process for a K-pop girl group. Post-production is ongoing; the target release window is late 2025 or early 2026.
