Jeon Soyeon's debut solo album dropped Sept. 7. The title track hit 12M YouTube views and No. 1 on daily music video charts within days.

Jeon Soyeon released her first solo regular album, 끝내주는 인생, on September 7. The title track 퇴사할게여 (Narr. 기안84) came straight from her—she wrote and composed it. By September 14 morning, it had hit No. 13 on Melon TOP100, topped YouTube Korea's daily popular music video chart, and ranked No. 1 on YouTube Shorts popular songs. The music video crossed 12 million views in one week.
Early listeners caught a resemblance to 잘 부탁드립니다 by Band Ex, the 2005 MBC University Song Festival grand prize winner. What could've blown up turned deliberate: Soyeon had reached out to Band Ex before production and gotten permission to homage their work. She revealed this on MBC's Radio Star on September 9, walking through how the track came together.
Soyeon's been pulling from band music across Japan and the United States. 퇴사할게여 follows that thread, just with a very specific Korean reference woven in.
A challenge video with Soyeon and Lee Sang-mi dropped as part of the comeback push. When people started guessing about when it was filmed, Lee Sang-mi cut through it:
"Stop the speculation. The reel was shot on Soyeon's birthday! We shot it back in August," Lee Sang-mi said.
Lee Sang-mi showed up with a cake that read 퇴사말고 영원히 함께해요—"Instead of quitting, let's be together forever." The line riffs off the title track's theme. (Self-referential cake as promo tool: either perfectly on-brand or the most efficient move of comeback season.)
