Kaho announces marriage after drama finale

Japanese actress Kaho announced on September 15 through her official website that she is marrying Hokimoto Sora (北本想羅). The announcement came right after the final episode of her TBS drama T-shirt ga Kawaku Made (Until the T-shirt Dries) broadcast.

"This time, I Kaho will be marrying Mr. Hokimoto Sora," she wrote, adding that the two would "prioritize each other's health first and work harder on creative activities" as a family.

Hokimoto directs films. He sings in rock band Bialystocks. He's also a novelist who debuted in fiction in 2023. The two are believed to have started dating after Kaho played the heroine in BAUS (2025), a film Hokimoto directed and wrote.

The actress behind the news

Kaho has serious credits. She played one of four sisters in Koreeda Hirokazu's Bayside Diary (2015) alongside Ayase Haruka, Nagasawa Masami, and Hirose Suzu. In 2020, she co-starred with Korean actress Shim Eun-kyung in Blue Hour, and the two jointly won Best Actress at the 34th Takasaki Film Festival. In 2022, she took on the role of deaf character Nana in the hit drama silent, performing entirely in sign language across the full run. That performance earned her the Drama Award for Best Supporting Actress.

A pattern forming in 2026

Kaho's announcement is the latest in a string of industry-couple marriages in Japanese entertainment this year. Nagasawa Masami kicked it off on New Year's Day, announcing her marriage to film director Fukunaga Takeshi. Araki Yuko and Nakajima Yuto married. Kamenashi Kazuya and Tanaka Minami married. (The fact that Nagasawa and Kaho — onscreen sisters in Bayside Diary — both married film directors in the same year is the kind of coincidence the internet will not let go quietly.)
