Lee Chung-ah in talks to exit drama 'Obedient Killer' after traffic accident worsens back injury

Lee Chung-ah is in talks to leave her current drama after a traffic accident last month aggravated a pre-existing back condition, her agency Management Soop confirmed on September 18.

"It is true that Lee Chung-ah was in a traffic accident," the agency told StarNews, adding that "we are currently discussing her withdrawal from the current project." The accident happened while she was traveling for filming on Obedient Killer (고분고분한 킬러).

She kept filming — until doctors said stop

Lee Chung-ah returned to the Obedient Killer set after the accident and continued shooting while undergoing treatment. The production team rescheduled her scenes to allow recovery time. Then came a medical diagnosis: more than a month of minimal movement required. A quick return to filming became impossible. Both sides are now discussing her exit.

What Obedient Killer is

Obedient Killer is a 1970s–1980s-set chaste noir about a woman whose only life goal was being a good wife and mother, who takes an unplanned job to survive outside the greenhouse. Director Lee Jung-heum (이정흠), known for Goo Kyung-i and Our Movie, helms the project. Writer Ju Hwa-mi (주화미), of Not a Hero, wrote the screenplay.

This would have been Lee Chung-ah's first major project since Honor: Their Courtroom (아너: 그녀들의 법정), the ENA drama that aired in February. She attended its production showcase on January 26 at The Saint in Guro-gu, Seoul.
