Super Junior's Shin Dong uses AI hair previews to run fan vote on new cut

Super Junior's Shin Dong (신동희, 41) dropped a post on September 16 with three AI-generated takes on his freshly cut hair. Vote by commenting "1," "2," or "3." Short. Direct. Very on-brand for someone running a tech-focused YouTube channel.

That channel, 신동댕동, sits at around 340,000 subscribers and runs through iPhone reviews, audio gear, and computers. Using AI to preview hairstyles before committing tracks perfectly with that side of his personality.

From dance competitions to MV director

Shin Dong debuted with Super Junior on December 5, 2005, on their first regular album as lead dancer, lead rapper, and sub-vocalist. Before that he'd already swept youth dance competitions—grand prizes, gold medals, the overall grand prize at SM's Youth Best Selection Competition. The dancing credentials were locked in before the group even launched.

His awards since debut include radio excellence and best awards, an entertainment news star award, and a talk show best entertainer award. In 2024 he moved behind the camera, directing music videos for Suit Up, C'MON (질러), and 돌아봐줄래. In 2025 he appeared as a featured artist on 따봉 (Tabom) (Feat. 신동).

37 kg down, and a packed schedule

The bigger story running through 2026 has been his weight loss: roughly 37 kg over about five months through diet management and walking. No dramatic intervention. He talked through the process on JTBC's 아는 형님 in May and on KBS 2TV's 옥탑방의 문제아들 in June. The haircut post lands in that same window of visible change.

He recorded for MBN and Channel S's 전현무계획4, attended BlizzCon 2026 in Anaheim, and has a slot confirmed on ENA's upcoming variety show 왕자와 거지. The man does not sit still. Whatever the fan vote lands on will presumably debut across all of it.
