TWEED debuts with 112,282 first-week sales, topping 2026 girl group debuts

TWEED debuted August 24 as ABD's first girl group, dropping mini-album TUNE & PLAY with title track SUN KISS.

The seven members—Seo-hee, Seo-yeon, Elena, Gia, Saki, Sea, and Lee Ha-neul—span multiple nationalities. Their name comes from "Tune the Tide," a concept about adjusting flow and building joy by harmonizing the world's different currents.

TUNE & PLAY sold 112,282 copies in its first week. No female artist who debuted in Korea in 2026 has matched that opening. The album also cracks the all-time top 10 for girl group debuts. OURBIRTHDAY's debut single OUR BIRTH DAY came closest this year with 111,324 copies—just 958 units behind. ILLIT's SUPER REAL ME holds the current record at 380,056 copies in March 2024. NewJeans' self-titled debut moved 311,271 in August 2022. LE SSERAFIM's FEARLESS sold 307,450 in May 2022.

SUN KISS hit No. 24 on Spotify's Daily Top Songs Korea chart on August 28, then climbed to No. 5 on Apple Music's Top 100 Today: South Korea chart the next day.

The group appeared on KBS Cool FM's Polkim's Music Square on September 1 in the "Gaokwang Invitation Seat, Meeting You" segment. Seo-hee recalled the listening session: "We all made eye contact with each other and said 'this will work.'" Gia described SUN KISS as "a song full of free movement and good energy under sparkling sunlight" that shows off all seven members' charm. Seo-yeon introduced the album as one that pulls each member's individuality and energy into a single joy. Lee Ha-neul said the name felt strange at first, but hearing "Tune the Tide" alongside "TWEED" made it click.

Seo-hee was the first member to record. Seo-yeon said the track ABD was the first song laid down in the studio.
