Kim Su-chan heats up Bongguksa Hyo Culture Festival, eyes Trot Champion title
Trot singer Kim Su-chan, 31, performed at Seongnam's outdoor festival and is now competing for the October champion slot on *Trot Champion*.
Festival stage, unexpected heat, and a heartfelt thank-you
Kim Su-chan, 31, took the outdoor night stage at the Seongnam Bongguksa Hyo Culture Festival. He sweated through every second of it.
After the performance, he posted a message to fans: "Thank you to everyone who joined the Seongnam Bongguksa Hyo Culture Festival, and especially to Chani Love who worked hard from the morning. Sweating from the first song with Nana's family, unexpected heat... sweat pouring like rain... real-time swelling going down. Rest well and see you again soon."
From a 2012 debut to Trot Champion contention
Su-chan debuted in 2012 with the album 오디션 (Audition). Early tracks built his fanbase in the trot circuit: 간다 간다, 딱 보면 알아요, 대구 아가씨. He followed with 평행선 in 2016. The single 사랑의 해결사 came in 2019. His 2020 mini-album 수찬노래방 had a title track, 엉덩이, that got wide attention. That same year he placed 10th on 내일은 미스터트롯.
On the variety side: a fixed spot on 살림하는 남자들 in 2023. A run through talk, food, and observation shows in 2024. In 2025 he landed fixed appearances on 샅바전쟁 17대1 and a slot on 가보자GO Season 5.
The October champion race
Now he's in the running for the October champion title on 트롯챔피언. His song 남자다 goes up against Bin Ye-seo's 으뜸 타령 and Seong-ri's 오늘 이 밤 in the broadcast on the 8th. Monthly champion competitions on this show are decided by audience vote, so fan turnout matters.
