Remember Constantine by Keanu Reeves? In July, there's a masterpiece on NETFLIX that combines historical drama and occult
There is an actor that Koreans really love, even though it is still less famous overseas.
It's Cho Seungwoo.
He's coming through NETFLIX in July.
The original Netflix series The East Palace is a dark fantasy action occult historical drama set during the Joseon Dynasty. It is a pure Korean creation that has nothing to do with the famous Chinese romance drama of the same name.
📅 Release date and side effects Information
release date: It will be released globally on Friday, July 17, 2026.
Contents: It consists of eight episodes in total.
📜 Core Story (Synopsis)
It begins with a mysterious curse and ghosts appearing in "East Palace," the place where the crown prince stays, in the depths of the palace.
The king of Joseon, the center of the Neo-Confucian order, invites a heretical being, the "ghost catcher," to the palace to solve the curse. It deals with the exorcism mystery, in which characters who cross the real and ghostly worlds dig into the palace's darkest secrets and curses at the level of national disaster.

🎭 Major cast and characters
Gu Chun (played by Nam Joo-hyuk): An exorcist who physically moves around the world of his ears and cuts down on the original ghosts through his ability to become ghosts. It shows a unique action of wielding a sword with a peach branch on your back.
Saenggang (played by Noh Yoon-seo): A court lady who has a special ability to hear ghosts in the palace. She holds the key secret to unlocking the curse of the Donggung Palace by teaming up with the Gucheon.
The King (played by Cho Seung-woo): The king of Joseon who secretly brings Gucheon and ginger into the palace to solve the supernatural curse that encroached upon the palace.
🎬 Produced by the all-time lineup: Directed by Choi Jeong-gyu, who showed his cool and detailed mise-en-scène in the dramas "The Devil's Judge" and "The Red Moon and the Blue Sea." Grotto: Kwon So-ra and Seo Jae-won, who wrote "Son The Guest" that opened the horizon of Korean-style real exorcism, and the fantasy masterpiece "Immortal," have built a solid and bizarre world view. Since the teaser trailer was released, it has been considered one of the best anticipated films of this summer for its overwhelming visual beauty and colorful casting reminiscent of the Korean version of "The Demon Slayer."
