Choi Ya-seong rebrands as Choi Gamdog (Ya-seong), preps third single with ballads and new MV director

Choi Ya-seong runs a luxury brand bearing his name and has directed films since age 19. Now he's dropping MC야성—the moniker from his 2005 debut and 2006 1.5 single—in favor of 최감독(야성) (Choi Gamdog, Ya-seong) for his third single album.

This one breaks new ground. Hip-hop gave way to ballads. Composer Yang Jun-young, who wrote chart-topping tracks for Baek Ji-young's 선택 and Fin.K.L's 가면의 시간, handled the music while Choi Ya-seong wrote all the lyrics himself, staying true to his process across every release.

Film director Lee Su-seong is helming the music videos. He chairs the Korean Film Directors Association as of this year. The two have worked together before on 가로수길 이봄씨어터 and are now co-developing the youth real-action film 2027시라소니 alongside this music project.

Choi Ya-seong has collected the Film Production Grand Prize and Luxury Brand Grand Prize more than 20 times combined. Since 2012 he's published dozens of poems through various outlets, including the widely noted 대한민국 최야성이 일본 아베 총리께. He wants the comeback to accelerate K-content's global reach through sustained work on the new songs and videos.
