G.NA is remaking her 2010 debut '꺼져줄게 잘 살아' — chosen by fans — marking her first music activities in roughly 10 years.

G.NA is coming back. On June 23, singer Choi Ji-na announced via social media that she will remake 꺼져줄게 잘 살아, her 2010 debut track. Sixteen years later, she's returning to the song that launched her career.
Fans decided which song would get the remake treatment. A two-day vote picked 꺼져줄게 잘 살아. "I read your messages and realized again how much this song meant to so many people, including myself," she said. The original dropped in July 2010 and hit number one on music broadcasts within a month. She followed it with Black & White and Top Girl before her career stalled.
In 2016, G.NA received a 2-million-won fine after being implicated in a prostitution-related case. She has repeatedly stated "everything is a rumor." She effectively stopped domestic activities after the verdict and relocated — sources differ on whether she settled in the United States or Canada. For the next decade she shared occasional updates through social media. Since March 2026 she has been posting music work and singing clips, signaling the return was coming.
The remake sounds nothing like the original. The 2010 version ran fast and fierce, built around the concept of a woman who doesn't need you. This one slows everything down. G.NA describes it as orchestral, with a build-up. She recorded it "with the feeling of crying while saying it's okay." (Two sources describe the arrangement as guitar-and-piano ballad; another emphasizes orchestral elements.) The emotional shift is deliberate. "If the original expressed intense feelings of separation, this time I wanted to capture the emotion of loving but having to let go — a kind of smiling sadness."
No release date has been announced. The remake is still in production.
