Kim Ki-hae discharged from Navy, set to resume acting career

Kim Ki-hae is out of the Navy. The actor was discharged on June 27 after completing his mandatory military service, having enlisted on October 28, 2024.

Blue Whale Entertainment confirmed he is preparing for a new start and plans to show new sides of himself through upcoming works and characters. "During my time as a soldier of the Republic of Korea, I learned and felt so much," Kim said. "I sincerely thank everyone who waited for me for such a long time."

He debuted in 2020 with the web drama 남자무리 여사친 (Male Group Female Best Friend). His filmography since then includes KBS Drama Special 방종, Tving original series 방과 후 전쟁활동 (After School War Activities), Disney+ original series 조명가게 (Lighting Shop), and films 마녀 Part2. The Other One and 소주전쟁 (Soju War).

The 마녀2 credit became his breakthrough. He landed the role of the youngest member of the so-called 'Toe 4-member group' (토우 4인방) after beating a 1,408-to-1 casting competition. In 방과 후 전쟁활동, he played Kim Chi-yeol (김치열), an ordinary high school student caught in a survival situation.

Six years in, the résumé already covers streaming originals on two major platforms plus a theatrical franchise. "I will greet you with good works in the future," he added. "I ask for your continued anticipation."
