Korean meme '야르' shows up in Spotify's Korean lyrics for Olivia Rodrigo's 'Drop Dead'

Spotify's Korean lyrics translation for Olivia Rodrigo's new single Drop Dead contains the Korean internet meme '개 야르' — a phrase completely unrelated to the original English text.

The translation came through Spotify's lyrics service, which relies on Musixmatch. The platform lets users register and edit certain lyrics and translations, which is apparently how the meme got in. (User-editable lyric databases: blessing and curse rolled into one.)

This isn't new. Sabrina Carpenter's Manchild hit similar snags on the same pipeline, with Korean versions that strayed far from the original meaning.

Olivia Rodrigo released Drop Dead recently. The meme insertion caught fire online, with Korean users spotting the phrase — '야르가 왜 거기서 나와?' — as an obvious plant.
