Lee Jae's 'Golden' hits #1 on Billboard Hot 100 and UK Singles Chart — a K-pop first
Lee Jae's Netflix animation OST 'Golden' hit #1 on both the US Billboard Hot 100 and UK Official Singles Chart. First K-pop track to do so.
Golden, the OST track Lee Jae contributed to Netflix animation K-pop Demon Hunters, reached number 1 on both the US Billboard Hot 100 and the UK Official Singles Chart Top 100. No K-pop genre track had topped both before.
The OST album also claimed the top spot on the Billboard 200. K-pop Demon Hunters has now surpassed 300 million cumulative views on Netflix.
The project swept major awards: Academy Awards for Best Animated Feature Film and Best Original Song, plus the Grammy for Best Song Written for Visual Media.
Lee Jae also performed the official 2026 North/Central America World Cup opening ceremony theme DNA — which includes Korean-language lyrics — on the global stage. (The World Cup stage, the Oscars, the Grammys, and two chart summits in one era is a run that's hard to contextualize.)
On June 24, Lee Jae posted multiple photos to social media. Off the stage, Lee Jae is set to hold a wedding ceremony with Korean-American music producer Sam Kim in November.
