Nakamori Akina guests on Nihon TV's 'Golden SixTONES' June 28, her first variety appearance on the network in roughly two decades.

Nakamori Akina will appear as a guest on Nihon TV's variety program Golden SixTONES when it airs June 28, 2026. Her last Nihon TV variety broadcast was approximately 20 years ago.
The episode was filmed in Korea, the program's first overseas location shoot. Johnny's group SixTONES traveled across the country taking part in various activities, including a 50-meter race between Nihon TV's mascot Sorajiro and Korean character Pororo. At a Korean-style noraebang, the group held a karaoke battle. One SixTONES member performed Nakamori Akina's signature track DESIRE -Jounetsu- during the segment.
Nakamori Akina debuted in 1982 and turned 60 this year. At her peak she was called a rival to Matsuda Seiko and earned the title "Japan's songstress," with hits including DESIRE -Jounetsu-, MI AMORE, and Second Love. After a prolonged hiatus due to health issues, she announced a return to activities in 2022 and has since been meeting fans through concerts and fan meetings.
(Forty-four years into a career and she's still the one a SixTONES member picks for a noraebang battle.)
