King Gnu, HIVE, and other acts saw shows disrupted or cancelled after protesters blockaded Seoul Olympic Park's Handball Stadium following the June 3 election ballot shortage.

Seoul Olympic Park's Handball Stadium has been effectively shut down for nearly a month. Protesters blockaded the site after the June 3 local election ballot shortage incident, and one of the country's most-used large concert venues remains inaccessible.
The damage spread fast. The 2026 Seoul Park Music Festival, set for June 20 and 21, had to split its lineup between the 88 Waterside Stage and Woori Finance Art Hall just days before showtime. The Nexon MapleStory Showcase, originally mid-June, got relocated to Ilsan Kintex. HIVE's Weverse Con Festival completely rewrote its audience flow and waiting areas.
Japanese band King Gnu played both nights at KSPO DOME on June 20 and 21. Crowds outside faced large drums and high-power loudspeakers from protesters.
The 2026 Park Seo-jin National Encore Concert, booked for July 4 and 5 at the Handball Stadium, explored relocation before cancelling entirely. TVXQ's Yunho had a solo concert scheduled July 17–19 at the same venue. N.Flying was booked July 31 to August 2. Both now face uncertain hosting status.
One official at a small music planning company laid out the economics bluntly: "The loss incurred from cancelling one concert or relocating a venue matches the company's annual revenue." Another concert industry official identified a deeper problem. Major domestic venues are legally registered as sports facilities, which means pop music events always lose priority when public-purpose measures like election law take over.
Ko Ki-ho, chairman of the Korean Popular Music Concert Industry Association, called the situation unfair: "It is unfair for the pop music industry to unilaterally bear the costs of unexpected social conflict." He pushed the government to review venue rental fee reductions, ticket cancellation fee relief, and support for relocation to safe alternative venues.
The public corporation managing the park said it is calculating the scale of losses from cancelled concerts. Analysts suggest the figures are unlikely to translate into actual compensation.
