Wild Thing follows Triangle (트라이앵글), an early-2000s co-ed group that peaked and disbanded. Twenty years later, the members are trying to get back on stage. Kang Dong-won plays Hyun-woo, the leader, who tanked under a plagiarism scandal and has been scraping by on broadcast gigs. A concert tied to a Gangwon Expo bid gives him an opening. He needs to convince Do-mi (Park Ji-hyun), now a chaebol family daughter-in-law, and Sang-gu (Eom Tae-gu), who sells insurance, to join him at a provincial venue.

Things spiral. A former agency head (Shin Ha-gyun) who fled overseas gets involved. So does Choi Sung-gon (Oh Jung-se), a past rival ballad singer. Hyun-woo's frustration cuts through the noise: "Only three chances in a lifetime? That's too few!"

Oh Jung-se won the Baeksang Arts Award for the role and used his speech to speak directly to anyone stuck in a long stretch of nothing. Fifteen years of obscurity, over 1,000 auditions, 10 consecutive failed projects — then he broke through. "Do not give up, become discouraged, or lose hope in what you are doing," he said.
