Gong Hyo-jin plays a killer hiding behind suburban domesticity in MBC's new Friday-Saturday drama, adapted from a popular Kakao webtoon.

MBC's new Friday-Saturday drama 유부녀 킬러 (Yubunnyeo Killer) premieres July 31 at 9:50 PM. Gong Hyo-jin leads the cast as Yoo Bo-na—an ordinary wife and mother who can subdue criminals in an instant.
The show is adapted from the popular Kakao webtoon of the same name. Kim Eun-hee wrote the screenplay, Kwon Sung-chang handled planning, and Yoon Jong-ho and Kim Ji-hoon directed. At its core is a working mother trying to protect her work-life balance while holding what the show calls the most dangerous job in the world. Gong described the central irony this way: "The mother-in-law thinks she lost her beloved son, so she constantly mistreats her daughter-in-law. But she never finds out until the end that her daughter-in-law has the most brutal job in the world."
Gong Hyo-jin, Jung Jun-won, Lee Sang-i, Moo Jin-sung, Choi Woo-sung, and Lee Eun-sam attended the production presentation at MBC's Sangam headquarters in Mapo-gu, Seoul on July 30. Broadcaster Park Kyung-rim moderated.
Gong married singer Kevin O in 2022—he's 10 years her junior. She said real married life made the role easier to inhabit. "I am in a very sweet newlywed life. Definitely having experience helps with acting." She added that she and her actual mother-in-law share similar personalities and click well, sometimes better than she does with her husband. (Five years in and still calling it a newlywed phase is a flex, honestly.)
In the drama, her character's mother-in-law is a constant source of grief, unaware of what her daughter-in-law actually does for a living.
