Kim Soo-hyun broke 17 months of silence on July 15 with a social media post. His agency confirmed his return, and roughly 40 film and drama offers are already waiting.

Kim Soo-hyun is back. On the 15th, he uploaded a photo to his personal account—his first SNS activity since February of last year—and his agency followed with a statement: "We deeply appreciate all those who have believed in and waited for Kim Soo-hyun."
The return comes 1 year and 6 months after the controversy that erupted in February 2025. Industry sources say roughly 40 film and drama scripts are already waiting for him. The most immediate question is what happens with Knock Off, his completed Disney+ project: filming is done, but no release date has been set, with the schedule to be determined based on future circumstances.
The SNS post itself was a re-gram of content from Ben Chan, chairman of Philippine clothing brand BENCH, for which Kim Soo-hyun serves as a model.
On the 23rd of last month, Kim Se-ui—head of Garosero Research Institute—was indicted and arrested on charges including defamation by false facts, violation of the Stalking Crimes Punishment Act, distribution of illegally recorded material, attempted coercion, and intimidation. Investigative authorities determined that the audio recordings Kim Se-ui had released were AI-generated fabrications. KakaoTalk conversation logs purportedly between Kim Soo-hyun and the late Kim Sae-ron were also fabricated. The legal outcome did much of the heavy lifting before Kim Soo-hyun said a word.
