Actor Lee Yeon is the 12th SIWFFstar for the festival running August 20–26 at Megabox Sinchon and the Korean Film Archive.

Actor Lee Yeon has been appointed the 12th SIWFFstar — the official promotional ambassador — for the 28th Seoul International Women's Film Festival. The announcement came July 10.
The festival runs August 20 to 26 at Megabox Sinchon and the Korean Film Archive. Lee Yeon will attend the opening ceremony on August 20 and carry out promotional activities centered on the festival's focus on diversity and women's cinema.
"I am honored to be the SIWFFstar of this meaningful place that has discovered and connected the voices of diverse female creators," Lee Yeon said. "I will take responsibility and work to ensure that the films and voices of female creators reach more audiences."
Previous SIWFFstars: Kim Ah-joong, Han Ye-ri, Lee El, Moon Ga-young, Bang Min-ah, Ok Ja-yeon, Son Soo-hyun, and Choi Sung-eun.
Lee Yeon's work ranges across formats. She appeared in the short 악질 (2017), features 담쟁이 (2020) and 절해고도 (2023), Netflix's D.P. and 소년심판 (2022) — where she played 13-year-old Baek Seong-woo — 약한영웅 Class 1 (2022), 길복순 (2023), drama 이로운 사기, and the upcoming MBC series 21세기 대군부인 (2026).
Lee Yeon has a direct connection to the festival. Director Kim Mi-jo's 경주기행, in which Lee Yeon plays Dong-ju (the third daughter), won the Pitch & Catch Award at the festival's 2022 creative support program. The Seoul International Women's Film Festival has been running since 1997.
