Lim Ji-hoon reveals he never wanted to sing 'Reminiscence' on KBS documentary

Lim Ji-hoon sat down with KBS 1TV's Song Documentary Back to the Music 2 on July 25 to unpack the history behind two of his best-known tracks, Reminiscence (회상) and Love's Ebb (사랑의 썰물).

He revealed something he'd never shared before: despite Reminiscence being the song that made his name as a solo artist, he never actually wanted to perform it.

Love's Ebb took a different path. The solo track drew massive public attention and pushed album sales past one million copies.

Before going solo, Lim was active in university districts in the early 1980s. A chance meeting with Kim Chang-wan of Sanulrim led to Kim Chang-wan and the Rascals (김창완과 꾸러기들), a project that staged the first-ever 100-day concert series in Daehak-ro. Tear gas drifted into the venue during performances. They finished anyway.

Over the following decade, Lim performed roughly 1,300 concerts across Seoul and Daehak-ro. In 2025, he released a Japanese-language album and made his debut in the Japanese market.
