Madonna has a 10th Billboard 200 number one. Her 15th album, Confessions II, topped the chart — and her 13th UK number one came with it. She is 67.
Music critic Kim Sung-dae uses that milestone as a lens for CORTIS. "I think Madonna's present could become CORTIS's future," he writes, pointing to autonomy and authenticity as the decisive force behind groups that last. He places CORTIS alongside i-dle, BTS, and Stray Kids as acts whose success runs on exactly those qualities.
The comparison has a foundation. CORTIS — the name is shorthand for COLOR OUTSIDE THE LINES, which translates roughly to "we will do what we want to do" — was granted full creative participation by their agency at debut, an arrangement that is reportedly unusual enough to be worth noting. Before that debut, members had already composed and produced hit songs for other major groups and choreographed for them as well.
(The argument, essentially: creative ownership built in from day one is what separates acts that age well from acts that don't.) Kim's read is that the Madonna data point is not just a chart footnote — it is a preview of what sustained creative control can look like decades out.
