Nam Goong-min's 'Marriage's Completion' opens at 4.6% as kidnapper sends damning drunk video

결혼의 완성 (Marriage's Completion) launched on KBS 2TV on July 4 at 9:20 PM, pulling a 4.6% nationwide household rating in its first episode.

Nam Goong-min plays Kang Tae-joo, a neurosurgeon whose marriage to hospital director Go Se-yoon (Lee Seol) has fractured over how to run the hospital—a dispute that pulls in her father and hospital founder Go Dong-chan (Jang Gwang). Kang Tae-joo tells his wife: "Let's break up, let's divorce." She responds: "Try if you can. It might be possible if one of us dies."

The situation spirals. Right after Kang Tae-joo files for divorce, Go Se-yoon vanishes. An unidentified abductor—Kim Dae-myung, shown only in silhouette and voice—sends Kang Tae-joo a video. In it, Kang Tae-joo appears drunk, asking a stranger to "get rid of" his wife and offering 300 to 500 million won. The kidnapper counters: 500 million won to kill her, 1 billion won to return her alive.

Kang Tae-joo withdraws 1 billion won in cash and races to the drop-off point. A motorcycle-vehicle collision destroys the handoff. The episode closes with the motorcycle driver pressing a stun gun to Kang Tae-joo's chest: "Did you bring my 1 billion won?"

SBS's Kim Bu-jang posted 21.6% for episode 4 that same weekend. JTBC's Rookie CEO Kang hit 10.8%.
