Maybee reveals she and Yoon Sang-hyun went on just 3 dates before marrying — and honeymooned in Gyeongju

Singer Maybee says she and actor Yoon Sang-hyun went on roughly three proper dates before getting married in 2015. She only found out he was serious about her when he announced it on TV.

They met through a blind date arranged by Yoon's manager, a close friend of Maybee's. Yoon had been telling people he wanted to marry quickly, so the manager made the introduction. His first impression wasn't great—his ideal type was "a plump and healthy-looking woman," and he thought she was too thin. He kept thinking about her anyway, reached out again, and eventually decided she was someone he could marry.

What he didn't do was tell her directly. "Without consulting me," Maybee said, "he went on Healing Camp and announced that he had someone to marry." She watched the broadcast and thought, "Am I getting married too?" A family meeting followed. "Before I knew it, I was entering the wedding hall."

The honeymoon was equally unexpected. Maybee had been hoping for Phuket. Yoon Sang-hyun, who likes Buddhist art, proposed Gyeongju instead. She was puzzled at first, but came around—he surprised her with hiking clothes, and they climbed a mountain together and prayed at a temple. (Gyeongju as a honeymoon destination is unconventional, but apparently it worked.) Recently she returned to that same mountain with their children. The couple have one son and two daughters. Watching Yoon carry the kids up the trail moved her.

"We got married without knowing much about each other," she said, "and after marriage we got to know each other and became much closer." Their MBTIs are complete opposites. "It's impossible to be this opposite."
