Japanese girl band Syuumatsu no Diamond proceeds with debut release after guitarist MEI's sudden death

MEI (네코즈키 메이), guitarist of Japanese girl band Syuumatsu no Diamond, died suddenly before the release of the band's debut single.

The band was days away from dropping their first track. Digital audio was set for July 20. The debut 공기 읽지 마 and its music video were scheduled for July 29—MEI's birthday. Both will release as originally planned.

A birthday live event and bar event scheduled around the date were cancelled. Ticket refund details will be announced later.

In a statement, the band explained the decision to proceed: "This work contains the sound and heart that MEI inscribed as a guitarist." They believe "delivering this work to many people is the greatest tribute to her and a way to carry forward the heart she cherished into the future."

The music video for 공기 읽지 마 is now out.
