Actor Yeon Jeong-hun's father ran an acting academy but opposed his son's acting career. The story airs July 31 on MBN's '전현무계획4', episode 5.

Yeon Jeong-hun stumbled into acting by accident. His father tried to stop him anyway.
Episode 5 of MBN and Channel S's 전현무계획4 airs July 31 at 9:10 PM. Yeon joins hosts Jeon Hyun-moo and Kwak Tube (Kwak Jun-bin) as a 'food friend' at a 42-year-old snack restaurant in Incheon. The place is known locally for freshly made pan-fried dumplings, chewy noodles, and thin pork cutlet.
Over food, Yeon talks about how he got here. As a kid, he wanted to be a car designer. His father, veteran actor Yeon Gyu-jin, ran an acting academy in Yeouido. Yeon only showed up there because he tagged along with a friend one day. An entertainment agency spotted him and offered a contract. "Acting was a case of following a friend to Gangnam," he said. "I went with a friend and got cast."
Here's the twist: his father—the man who literally taught acting for a living—fought him hardest. "My father opposed it a lot," Yeon said. A man who teaches acting telling his own kid not to act. Make sense of that.
The cycle might repeat. When Kwak Tube asked if Yeon would let his own children act, Yeon said his wife Han Ga-in already has an answer: "My wife says she opposes it." Yeon and Han married in 2005 and have one son and one daughter.
The episode also has the group swapping old photos. Jeon Hyun-moo looked at Yeon's younger self—who had been living in the U.S. and flew back during a school break for the shoot—and said he looked like "a typical American study-abroad student." Yeon fired back at Jeon's elementary school photo: "Is that an elementary school student? He looks like a PE teacher."
