JENNIE headlines Summer Sonic 2026 in Tokyo and Osaka, completing 7 major festival runs this year
JENNIE closed the MOUNTAIN stage at Summer Sonic 2026's 25th anniversary edition across Tokyo and Osaka, wrapping her seventh headline festival slot of 2026.
JENNIE headlined Summer Sonic 2026 on August 14 at Tokyo's Zozo Marine Stadium and Makuhari Messe, then returned on August 16 at Osaka's Banpaku Kinen Park. The festival hit its 25th anniversary this year.
In Tokyo, she closed the MOUNTAIN stage. The set included Mantra and like JENNIE plus unreleased new material. OA Entertainment noted she "enriched the performance by showcasing not only her representative songs but also various unreleased new songs." She shared the lineup with The Strokes, Jamiroquai, and L'Arc-en-Ciel.
This was her seventh headline festival slot of 2026. The Governors Ball in New York kicked things off. Roskilde in Denmark followed, then Open'er in Poland, Mad Cool in Spain, and Lollapalooza Chicago before Japan.
The numbers tell their own story. Dracula, her collaboration with Tame Impala, has spent 11 cumulative weeks inside the US Billboard Hot 100 top 10 and is currently on a five-week consecutive run at number 1 on the Mediabase Hot AC Radio chart. Her July alternative-pop single Less than a Lover hit number 1 on Bugs real-time, number 6 on Apple Music TOP100, number 3 on Spotify popular songs, and number 10 on Melon HOT100.
A popup called JENNIE SUMMER-DAIKANYAMA TSUTAYA BOOKS EDITION ran at Daikanyama Tsutaya Books in Tokyo from August 12 through August 18 to coincide with the Summer Sonic appearances.
After the Tokyo show, a video purportedly showing a wardrobe malfunction circulated online. The clip recorded over 16 million views on X. Some have raised the possibility the footage was manipulated using AI technology. OA Entertainment has not issued a statement.
