Kim Sung-ryung takes the role of Amanda in The Glass Menagerie, running Oct 17–Nov 22 at Seoul Arts Center's CJ Towol Theater.

Kim Sung-ryung, 58, is heading to the stage. The actor will play Amanda—a mother who projects her dreams and expectations onto her children—in the Korean production of Tennessee Williams' The Glass Menagerie. It opens October 17 at Seoul Arts Center's CJ Towol Theater and runs through November 22.
The cast rotates across all four roles. Amanda is shared between Kim Sung-ryung and Choi Jung-won. Tom goes to Jang Seung-jo, Kwon Yul, and Kim Kyung-nam. Laura to Jung Woon-sun, Jung Sae-byul, and Im Se-mi. Jim to Moon Yu-gang, Bae Hoon, and Choi Jung-woo. Williams' play, set in 1930s Saint Louis, follows characters caught between family obligation and the pull of individual freedom.
Jang Seung-jo's casting stands out on its own. He's returning to the theater stage after seven years. Right now he's mid-run in The Lives of Others at LG Art Center Seoul U+ Stage in Gangseo-gu, playing Georg Dreyman, East Germany's greatest playwright, in a 110-minute production that runs until September 13. Going straight from one stage to another with barely a month's gap is a choice.
Kim Sung-ryung also has a film on the way. She's set to appear as Miju in Buhwalnnam, slated for a 2026 release.
