TWS brings Korean version of 'SODA SODA' to M Countdown as Japan single breaks team sales record
TWS performed a Korean-language version of their Japan single 2 title track on Mnet's M Countdown on Sept. 3, arranged in response to fan requests.
A fan request turned into a live stage
TWS — Shinyu, Dohoon, Youngjae, Hanjin, Jihoon, and Gyeongmin — took the M Countdown stage on September 3 with a Korean-language version of SODA SODA, the title track from their second Japanese single. Their fandom, 42, had been asking to hear the originally Japanese-language song in Korean. So they got it.
The single dropped in Japan on August 4. First-week sales hit 225,853 copies on Oricon — their highest opening week for any Japanese release. The title track topped multiple music charts right after and became the first K-pop song of 2026 to reach number one on Billboard Japan's Japan Hot 100.
Kobe dates close out a packed Japan run
The M Countdown appearance landed in the middle of a busy stretch. TWS played both Summer Sonic 2026 and Mezamashi WANGAN Festival. Their second Japan tour, 2026 TWS TOUR '24/7:FOR:YOU' IN JAPAN, is currently underway, continuing at Hyogo Kobe World Memorial Hall from September 4 through September 6.
The Korean lyrics performed on the show include "순식간에 터져버린 SODA 서툰 내 마음 같아 왠지" and "다가올 다음의 여름도 내 옆엔 '너'일 거야" — a summer-crush concept built around the image of carbonation about to burst. (A proper Korean-language release hasn't been confirmed yet.)
