U+ The Gap Between the Ordinary and the Extraordinary: free art space in Gangnam

Sofia Reyes·11/5/2026, 12:20:54 PM·3

If you're looking for a Seoul art stop that doesn't feel like a museum, U+ The Gap Between the Ordinary and the Extraordinary is a six-floor interactive space in Gangnam that LG U+ built around the "Art Garage" concept — basically a platform for emerging artists to experiment, and for you to actually participate rather than just walk past.

The first floor is where you'll hit the installation art and interactive experiences right away. Floors 3 through 6 are exhibition spaces running participatory and media art shows, so what's on rotates — worth checking their info line (+82-70-4090-8005) before you go to see what's currently up. The second floor has "AI Art Mate," which generates commentary on artworks, plus an art shop if you want to take something home.

If you need a breather, the U+ Lounge in the basement is set up for sketching and reflection, with various paper and pencil types on hand.

The whole thing is free to enter, open 11AM to 9PM (closed Mondays), and it's positioned as a place where art actually feels accessible — no gatekeeping, no "you have to understand this" energy. For an overseas visitor, it's a solid half-day or evening stop if you're already in Gangnam, especially if you want something more experimental than the typical Seoul gallery circuit.
