Im Young-woong holds Korea Gallup's Singer of the Year No. 1 for 6 straight years across all age groups

Six years running. Im Young-woong has held 1st place across all age groups in Korea Gallup's annual "Singer of the Year" survey every year since 2020. His 10th year as a recording artist is now underway.

He doesn't see himself that way. "Although fans like me a lot, I don't think I'm a singer with popular hit songs," he has said. His fanbase, called 영웅시대 (Younghero Era), clearly disagrees. The data does too.

His ballad 다시 만날 수 있을까 (Can We Meet Again) landed in South Korean high school music textbooks. That's a different kind of reach than most chart acts get.

His 2nd album IMHERO 2 shipped with no physical CDs. He chose not to produce any, citing environmental protection and a desire to cut unnecessary consumption. For a genre built on photocard-stuffed album bundles, that decision stands out. He has also appeared recently on the variety program 산골총각 영웅 (Mountain Bachelor Young-woong).
