Taeyeon's 'Manchanga' Opens J-POP Remake Project, Climbs to No. 13 on Melon
Taeyeon's Korean cover of tuki.'s 2023 hit debuted at No. 98 on Melon TOP100 and climbed to No. 13 within three days.
Taeyeon released 만찬가 on June 29 as the opening track of the J-POP REMAKE project, which reinterprets well-known Japanese songs through Korean artists.
The original 만찬가 came from Japanese singer-songwriter tuki. in 2023. It has crossed 170 million YouTube views and sits among J-POP's defining tracks of its era. The song is about lovers who share a meal together even as they decide to break up.
On Melon TOP100, Taeyeon's version entered at No. 98 at 9 PM on release day. By 11 PM on the 30th, it jumped to No. 14. Midnight on July 1 brought it to No. 13. The music video, which features Lisenne Won-i and Minami, is approaching 1 million YouTube views.
The J-POP REMAKE project will roll out further collaborations between various artists and Japanese catalog titles. 만찬가 is the first release.
