Young Miko is Rolling Stone Korea's latest digital cover star. June 25 brought the announcement and news of her deluxe album Do Not Disturb: Late Checkout.
The Puerto Rican hip-hop artist calls the record deeply personal. "It was an introspective work of looking back at myself and a process of healing emotions I couldn't express before," she said. Where earlier projects documented growth, this one holds "the truly mature me." Scorpio symbolism runs deliberately through the album. She says the sign's clear black-and-white nature mirrors who she is at the mic, and she channeled that passion and energy across every track. The deluxe additions shift the palette. "If the existing album was black and white, this time it feels like color has returned to life." The new music feels exciting and free.
The cover story lands during a sprint for her. Governor's Ball. Lollapalooza. Opening for Billie Eilish's global tour. First Puerto Rican ambassador for the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA). This year she steps into arenas for the first time. "I will run freely on stage to create the best time with fans," she said of the upcoming tour.
Off-stage, she's learning Korean, has a taste for banana milk and Choco Pie, and during the Rolling Stone Korea shoot she personally queued up Wonder Girls' Tell Me. On staying grounded through rapid career growth, she credits her longtime team: "Because I'm with people who truly care for me, I can remain unshaken."
